DRILLING
Laser drilling is - similar to the laser cutting - based on a fast insertion of enormously high amounts of energy into the workpiece surface. In this process, plasma arises and due to the steam pressure in the change of aggregate state from solid to gaseous, material is ablated and ejected from the drilling. Due to the latest laser technologies, a-thermal drilling without the formation of melt is already possible. The advantage compared to mechanical drilling is the sharp and burr free edges of the drillings. The strength in laser drilling lies - depending on the application - in the speed, the not-given impact or the generating of drill diameters that can no longer be reached mechanically.
